PIANO MASTER CALSSES


at the Music Department of the
University of Szeged Faculty of Education „Juhász Gyula”

A workshop in the city of sunshine: Szeged, from 4th – 6th July 2011. We await young musicians from every level from every country to widen their cultural horizon and deepen their artistic experience. Individual lessons, listener in all courses concerts. On completion of the master class, each participant will receive a certificate. The participants will have the chance to take part in the final concert.

Ms. Jane Solose leads an active career as a featured concerto soloist, recitalist, chamber musician, duo pianist and master teacher that has taken her to Korea, Japan, Austria, Hungary, Russia, Canada, and around the U.S. A native of Niagara Falls, Canada, she is a graduate of the Royal Conservatory of Music, the University of Toronto and the University of Western Ontario in Canada. Dr. Solose received her DMA from the Eastman School of Music, where she was awarded their prestigious Performer's Certificate and was David Burge’s first teaching assistant. She studied with the noted teachers David Burge, William Aide, Myrtle
Guerrero, Patricia Parr, George Lucktenberg (piano and harpsichord), Greta Kraus (harpsichord), Arthur Haas (harpsichord) and also received private piano instruction from Guido Agosti, Damiana Bratuz, and Peter Katin. She performed in masterclasses and summer festivals for Leon Fleisher, Grant Johannesen, Adele Marcus, György Sebők, Abbey Simon, and Rosalyn Tureck. Dr. Solose is a past winner of the CBC Canada National Radio Competition and received special com- mendation at the International Vienna Modern Masters Performers Recording Award Competition. Eroica Classical Recordings released two of her compact discs
- Style Hongrois and Variations: Three Centuries of Solo Keyboard Variations. Capstone Records released another CD, Array, which celebrates works by American composers. Her articles have been published in the journals 20th Century Music and Clavier. She has been invited to give a concert and masterclass at the 2011
World Piano Conference this summer in Novi Sad, Serbia, and is giving concerts and masterclasses in Bulgaria as well. Duo Solose, a duo-piano collaboration with her sister, Kathleen Solose (Professor of Piano, University of Saskatoon) have performed to enthusiastic ovations. In 2003 they toured Hungary, presenting con- certs, master classes and lectures at various Universities and Conservatories throughout the country. In 2008 they were invited to perform in St. Petersburg, Russia at the Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory and at Sheremetev Palace. Ms. Noémi Maczelka pianist graduated in 1979 from the Budapest Academy of Music „Liszt Ferenc” the class of Ernő Szegedi (piano), Loránt Szűcs (chamber music) and János Sebestyén (harpsichord). After this she attended master classes of Livia Rèv (Paris), Teofil Bikiş (Luxembourg), François Glorieux (Antwerpen), František Rauch (Prague), Tamás Vásáry, Malcolm Bilson and Pál Kadosa (Budapest). She received several prizes on piano- competitions; in Casale Monferrato (Italy) she got a first and an extra prize. She gave concerts all across Europe and in the USA as soloist, accompanist or chamber- musician. She played concertos with orchestra by
Mozart, Beethoven, Liszt, Rachmaninoff and Bach, herrecordings were broadcast
on the radio. She played world-premières and was awarded the „Artisjus-prize” for performance of Hungarian contemporary music twice in 1986 and 2010. She is professor, the head of the Music Department of the Szeged University Faculty of
Education. From 1979 since 2001 she taught at the Conservatory as well. She is the holder of the DLA – degree (Doctor of the Liberal Arts) in the piano performance.

Course fee is 5000 Ft / 20 EUR / 25 USD, which includes a minimum of two 50-minute individual lessons, indefinite possibilities to observe the lessons and piano practice, as well as a free entrance to the Liszt-recital of Jane Solose. The fee must be paid on the first day of the course, at arrival.
